Paper Triangles embarked on a unique project, collaborating with Snapchat and VMLY&R to develop a selfie lens that would enable users to learn 10 essential Army Hand Signals in the Australian Defence Force. Soldiers often use hand signals during missions in the battlefield, and understanding them can be a matter of life and death. Our challenge was to craft an engaging, educational experience that allowed Snapchat users to not only learn but also practice essential Army hand signals. These signals are crucial for communication during missions in the battlefield. We aimed to leverage Snapchat's cutting-edge hand tracking technology to accurately recognize and interpret the hand signals users displayed in real-time.
To bring the essence of the Army hand signals into the digital world, we adopted design elements that closely replicated the battlefield experience. The centerpiece of our project was the "Viewee Twoee," the official Army notebook that all soldiers carry. This interactive notebook became the primary mode of interaction for users, ensuring an authentic and immersive learning experience.
